Matilda has HR experience across a diverse range of sectors including a number of small family owned SMEs, third sector and e-commerce fashion organisations.
Matilda’s career in HR stems from a degree in Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University and an innate passion to support and help others. Previous business experience, alongside her deep understanding of the application of psychology in the workplace, developed Matilda’s enthusiasm to be involved in creating working environments where teams feel supported to work to their full potential and creativity.
Starting her HR career as an internal specialist within organisations gave Matilda a great insight into business processes and the requirements for continuous improvement and maximum performance. With a positive move to HR consultancy, Matilda is able to utilise her internal HR experience and add this to her approachable and empathic outlook on people and performance at work.
Matilda’s generalist HR expertise includes HR audit processes to ensure businesses have the appropriate grounding and frameworks in place from the outset to encourage a safe, legal and supportive workplace. Matilda enjoys reviewing HR practices and documentation, including contracts, handbooks, policies and procedures, to align these with the business culture. She is also experienced in recruitment, employee relations and supporting business through their development plans.
Matilda has thrived in helping small businesses grow to meet their strategic aims and is eager to become more involved in supporting Loates’ business clients through periods of transformational change and strategic growth.

- Being the youngest of four ‘mostly’ grown up children, Matilda enjoys spending time back in the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire with her family.
