Employment Law Update: Statutory Pay Updates

What Is Happening?

The statutory pay rates are legislation supported by the Government. The following changes will come into force on 7th April 2019 with the exception of the statutory sick pay rate; which will come into action on 6th April 2019.

  • The rate of statutory maternity pay will increase to £148.68 per week
  • The rate of statutory paternity pay and statutory shared parental pay will increase to £148.68 per week
  • The rate of statutory adoption pay will increase to £148.68 per week
  • The rate of statutory sick pay will increase to £94.25

Why Does It Matter?

It is important for employers and employees to be aware of the statutory pay rates in order to stay in line with the relevant legislation and ensure no penalties are awarded due to a lack of awareness.

What Do I Need To Do?

As an employer you should ensure that company policies are in line for the changes in the rates of pay for the dates they will come in to action.
